Welcome Caesar!!!

Hi. My name is Caesar and I am 16 yeers old. I was born on April 15, 1991.
I live here with my family (mommie, daddie, and two genius bean sisters that are in kollig) and my only littermate that survived, Princess. We have been together in our family for a long time. We came to live with them when we were 10 weeks old. Princess looks like her daddykitty, and I look like my mommiekitty. haha My daddie is all white and my mommie is tuxie. hmmm. we do not know where they are now....
We have had a busy life so far. Prinnie and I do not get any shots or immuniesations because we are allergik to them. The first time we had them we broke out in severe hives and had to be rushed to the emergency vet that wore red glasses, the second time I got a huge cyst on my leg owie and almost died.
Prinnie and I are genuine Cornish Rex kitties. We stay inside all the time. We get to sit at an open window now and then but we never go outside. It is too dangerous here.
We live in the suburbs of Washington DC, in Virginia and there are cars everywhere and lots of seedy creatures lurking out there.
When I was a young kitty, I was a wild monkey! I used to climb up and walk on top of the doors and curtains, and book cases, stair railings, and lamps and a couple of times I jumped from the up stairs into the family room which is like 20 feet up there. The first time I jumped down to the family room, mom thought I knocked a lamp over upstairs, but then I walked by her when she was in the down stairs bathroom. The second time she was ironing some of daddies shirts and I wanted to get to her quickly so I just showed her the cool thing I could do. She was not happy, I could tell because she screamed at me! So I like jumping from high places, but now I am old and I have to be careful.
My tail is 13 and a half inches long. I like being black and white. I am a very gentle kitty, I never bite or scratch, not even at the evil vet. The vetman calls me docile and sweet.
I like chiken the best. and Tempations. I have lots of toys in my two toy baskits.
I am very very vocal and I like to sing very loud at 9:00 PM sharp, and at other times too.
I respond to the following names: Mr. Loveyboy, The Love Tiger, Holstein kitty, and DopeyDude (mommie calls me that sometimes) and also Beeberlie.
If you call those names, I will come to you.
The end.

Hi, I'm Samantha!
I started my blog, so I could make new cat friends and help those who are caregivers to a loved one with Alzheimer's. Mom and I have learned so much, since Gma Rosie has come to live with us and we want to help those who are new to the disease and those who have been taking care of someone for awhile. Even if it's just to listen to their story. I'm going to start posting information we have learned to my blog daily.
I like to sleep, bite Mom's toes when she is sleeping, curl up in Gma Rosie's lap and purr, make new friends, cats and others alike. I like to pounce on Tigger, in the dark, cause it's harder for him to see me. I also knock on the door, when I want in, just like mom does.
Thanks for letting me introduce myself and become a contributor on the Tuxedo Gang Hideout. Hey, why do some cats call their humans beans?
Be blessed,
Samantha

Second Tainted Pet Food Ingredient Found
Momma founded dis story in da Chick-ah-go Tree-boon today:
Dis is soooooooooo not cool. Efurrybody be kareful!!!
WASHINGTON -- An industrial chemical that led to a nationwide recall of more than 100 brands of cat and dog foods has been found to contaminate a second pet food ingredient, expanding the recall further.
The chemical, melamine, is believed to have contaminated rice protein concentrate used to make a variety of Natural Balance Pet Foods products for both dogs and cats, the Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday. Previously, the chemical was found to contaminate another ingredient, wheat gluten, used by at least six other pet food and treat manufacturers.
Natural Balance said it was recalling all its Venison and Brown Rice canned and bagged dog foods, its Venison and Brown Rice dog treats and its Venison and Green Pea dry cat food.
The Pacoima, Calif., company said recent laboratory tests showed the products contain melamine. It believes the source of the contaminant was rice protein concentrate, which the company recently added to the dry venison formulas. Natural Balance does not use wheat gluten, which was associated with the previous melamine contamination, it said.
Last month, Menu Foods recalled 60 million cans of dog and cat food after the deaths of 16 pets, mostly cats, that ate its products. The FDA said tests indicated the food was contaminated with melamine, used in making plastics and other industrial processes. Five other companies later recalled pet products also made with wheat gluten tainted by the chemical.
The FDA has since blocked Chinese imports of wheat gluten. An FDA spokeswoman did not immediately return messages left seeking comment.

UPDATE: Bear died at 12:15 am in her Mommie ML’s arms. There is a special post for ML and Bear here, on the Pet Prayer & Praise blog. Joaquin (tuxie, and sib of Sophia diva kitty) has gone to the bridge. Be sure to go by and leave them a message!
Gizzy seems to have lost the will to live; he may have to be helped to the Bridge next week
Scooby's guinea pig, Eddie, is not good either. His mom states. "Could you please add 2 year old guinea pig Eddie to those needing prayers? He has suddenly become paralyzed in his back legs(possible stroke? ) and can only drag himself around in his cage. He lays in his excrement because he can’t stand up to poop like a healthy pig. He is still bright eyed and has an appetite so I am watching him to determine his quality of life.. I need to bathe him daily to remove the poop from his fur and clean his cage twice daily to remove the smelly poo & pee. I don’t know how far I should go with this. It’s been going on for about 6 weeks now. As long as I am willing to clean up after him and he seems to not be suffering (ie: not in pain) I can’t bear to put him down, but he can’t speak for himself and he really smells and I need to pray for guidance. If he is healthy otherwise, he could live 3-4 more years. Is he living a life that is good for him?????Please Lord, let me make a right decision. Lynne"

Wearning new things
Because I'm a genius kitty, I've got to make sure I keep on wearning new things so that I'll keep on being a genius. Here's me just finished surfing the innernets and having wearnt these new things.
So I'm shawing them with you all, so you can all be as genius as me!
So here goes.
I'm going to take a nap now!

So here goes.- A litter of kittens is called a kindle, and a group of cats is called a clowder.
- A cat's IQ is only surpassed by that of monkeys and chimps in the world of animals.
- Cats are the only animals that purr. They can purr at around 26 cycles per second, which is the same frequency as an idling diesel engine.
- Purring doesn't necessarily mean a cat is happy. Sometimes cats will purr when they are scared or hurt.
- A cat's nose pad is as unique as a human fingerprint. No two nose prints are identical.
- Petting or stroking a cat has actually been proven to help in lowering one's blood pressure.
- One way a cat shows s/he trusts you is by rolling over on his/her back.
- A cat's hearing is much stronger and more sensitive than a dog's or a human's. Our hearing stops at 20 khz; a cat's at 65 khz.
- Cats have 32 muscles in each ear and can turn their ear very quickly to catch noise. Much faster than a very alert watchdog.
- A cat's sense of smell is about 14 times stronger than ours.
- Cats have five toes on their front paws and four on their back paws. If a cat is polydactyl, s/he has extra toes.
- Cats have over 100 vocals sounds, while dogs have only 10.
- Cats drink liquid from the underside of their tongue, not from the top.
- Cats use their whiskers to determine if the space they are entering is big enough for them.
- To calm a frightened cat put your hand over his/her eyes and forehead or let him/her bury his/her head in your armpit.
- Only about 80% of cats have the gene that allows them to respond to the effects of catnip. The other 20% are not affected by it.
- Domestic cats are the only cats that can hold their tails vertically while they walk. Wild cats hold theirs horizontally or between their legs.
- The only "natural" breed of domestic cat in America is the Main Coon.
- Cats get an average of 16 hours of sleep per day.
I'm going to take a nap now!

Monday Mews
Members, if we don't have your bio paragraph yet, please get it to Oreo or me so we can get it posted. If you're a contributor, please go ahead and post it if you like. Future members, please let us know if you would also like to be a contributor. We will get you set up! We can't wait for all the bios to get up!!
Remember there is a Sock Monkey auction fur Jody at Monty Q. Kat’s blog. Also, Binky, a midnight, age 7, died suddenly yesterday morning. Even though he's a midnight, not a tuxie, we need to show our support to the family. Go here and leave a comment for the family. Boo also reports some furry sad news today and over the weekend: We have some sad news to report. Over this holiday weekend our local (Jacksonville, FL) Humane Society suffered a major fire at 2 AM. Many of the animals did not make it out and some are still missing. Please keep these precious furry ones in your thoughts and prayers. Also please keep positive thoughts for the humans who will need to rebuild a safe haven for all the homeless animals. Also, Sabrina, a long haired calico curl, has been very sick. Some time ago she had to have her leg removed because of cancer. Her Mom, Claudia (who is a dear friend of my friend Nancy who lost her beloved kitty recently) took her in for a small surgery and the Vet found that the cancer had spread to her spine. Please keep Miss Sabrina in your thoughts and purrayers and also her Mom, Claudia as well. On a positive note, Bujang shows us how he spent his Sunday holiday; Dragonheart has some movies showing us his Easter gift. Beau shows a man cat picture, does a meme and talks about the craziness getting ready for his mom's birthday on Saturday; Conner and sibs got a furry nice mousie from the M's! Crew's Views have a complaint about their Sunday holiday, and Edsel has a few complaints of his own!
Mattingly & Harilie give us a long awaited update! Max's mom has a new blog venture. Millie.&.Gizzy have a naptime battle. Oreo's Uncle Danny will be buried today, so be thinking of his family. There is a nice tribute to him on their blog. Scooby was in an indoor cat fight Friday! Sophia shows us pictures of sticky people egg hunting. That's all the news for now! Love, Beau
There's a great new meme out! Here are the questions:
How do you achieve balance in your life?
What is your biggest challenge in balancing your life?
What are your priorities?
How have your priorities changed over time and why?

Important News Updates

It's an understatement to stay it's been a furry stressful week for some! Oreo's family is grieving the loss of Uncle Danny who has been on our prayer list for a while now. Please be sure to stop by and leave them a comment. Sophia posted a beautiful poem for them on the Cat Blogosphere. (Sophia posted about her Uncle Mark's birthday party. Check out the pictuers!!) Mom Robyn of HotMBC had to go to the hospital because her meds gave her an allergic reaction and made her legs jumpy. She's okay though and didn't even have to stay in the hospital. Millie just had her 1st birthday! WOW!! Seems like yesterday we were all banding together to help Malcolm save her and take care of her! Beau's mom has a birthday Saturday of next week, and Timmy's mom has a birthday also this month. Due to Oreo's loss we are respectfully postponing the voting of the new logo temporarily to give them a chance to grieve. Also, so that HotMBC family can tend to Mom Robyn and make sure she's okay. For those of you travelling over the holiday weekend, have a safe trip! Happy Easter, and to our Jewish friends we hope you had a blessed Passover! More news to come, so check by later! Love, Beau

Welcome Max, Tipper & Misty!!!
MAX
My name is Maxwell Smartkitty, but everyone calls me Max. I’m a classic black & white, male tuxedo cat who wears a red collar. I was adopted at 6 weeks of age from a local shelter in Wisconsin. Now I’m almost 3 years old and at 16.5 lb. am a big man cat. In my family there are 4 cats and I have an older brother and sister and a younger sister. When my younger sister was adopted I didn’t like her much, but now we play together a lot.

I’m an independent sort of guy and don’t like to be held or carried. I allow Mom or Dad pet my head or back, but that’s about all. I don’t like my feet being bothered, especially for claw trims! I’m definitely not a lap kitty, but I do like to be near my family and follow Mom around.
I like to eat and I’m not fussy at all. I try all kinds of food and usually Mom will let me taste things to see if I like them. Plus I like milk, stinky goodness and treats. When we get treats, I eat all of mine and then go steal my sister’s.

I own the top shelf of our cat perch and often lay there looking out at our yard. I enjoy playing with feathers, our red dot and the mirror light. I especially like playing with toilet paper and drinking fresh water from the faucet.

TIPPER
I was named Tipper because when I was a kitten I had a pointy white tip on my tail, but when I grew up, my tip went away. Now I wear a gray tuxedo dress and a purple collar. I was adopted at 6 weeks old from a local Wisconsin shelter and I’m almost 4 years old now.
I’m sweet and gentle and I’m the lady of the house. I help Mom with everything while taking care of my two brothers and my baby sister. Every evening I lay by Mom and if she gets up, I follow her to see if she needs my help. I like to be petted but not picked up or carried.
My favorite toy is my red & white octopus, but I like flying feathers and glitter balls, too. I’m not picky about food…I like to try everything. When Mom has ice cream I always get to lick the bowl.
Recently I found out I had a secret admirer who became my Valentine. His name is Mattingly and he wears a gray tuxedo, too.

MISTY
I’m almost a year old and am the youngest in my family. I have an older sister who takes care of me and two older brothers. My oldest brother doesn’t play much any more, but my second oldest brother wrestles with me.
I wear a pink collar with a gray tuxedo dress and have I a distinctive nose pattern. I was adopted at 6 weeks of age from a local shelter and was very sick at first but Mom gave me medicine and I’ve been healthy ever since.
I purr all the time, that’s why I was named Misty Everpurr. I love to play and my favorite toys are feather-butt mousies and crumpled paper balls. I’m learning to be a house lady like my sister and like to follow Mom around to be near her.
I only eat milk and dry food. Sometimes I try other things like when Mom fixes a sandwich or has ice cream. I’m small compared to the other cats in my family because I don’t eat as much as they do. That, plus I’m young and run around a lot. I might get bigger when I’m older.
I have a handsome boyfriend named Speedy who also wears a gray tuxedo.

Now, about us. We's a bubby n sissy, and we's abouts 18 munfs old. What's a munf? Our hooman Pooka is friends wif our kittymomma's hoomans, an she talked da Momma into takin us to our home when we wuz little babies. Well, not so little, we didn't need mommamilk ennymore...
We's gots three reg'lar hoomans. Dere's Momma, da big one. She brushes us n clips our nails n empties da potty n gives us stinky goodness n treats. Den dere's Pooka, she's da middle one. She sleeps in the top bed n we like ta climb up dere an look outta da winnow. She gives us brushies n cuddles too, but she don't give us nummies. An den dere's da Mini, she's da little one. We dont know what she do udder'n cuddles. She's still learnin how ta play wif us, sumtimes she hugs too hard or she pulls tails. Dere's udder beenz dat come by too, like da guy Mini calls da Daddy. He dont live here but he's here most efurry mornin. Dere's da strange girls dat look like da Momma but dont smell like her. An den deres da guy dat Momma calls da Daddy, but he's diffurnt den da udder Daddy.
We's gots lotsa toys, efun fishies n flutterbies fulla nip. We's gots a scratchy board - Mungo likes dat - n a tall scratchy post in front of da winnow. N we got ringy thingies! But da bestest toy of all.... Momma's nekkid toeses when she's wurkin on da pooperbox! She meeps n moves around so we can chase!

HI Efurryone

Hello efurryone. I'm Abby. I'm a petite Tuxedo Manx who lives with 4 other brofurs and sisfurs. One of my sisfurs Boo is a Tuxedo like me. My other sisfur is Gracie who is a purrty grey tabby. My two brofurs are real brofurs, they are Ping (an orinch tabby) and Mr.Jinx (a pure grey tabby). I was adopted into my new home nearly 2 years ago, boy did I ever get lucky. Boo and I look forward to being a part of the new Tuxedo gang!
