Thirteen Things about Tuxedo and Black & White Cats! 1. A Tuxedo cat is a bicolor cat with a solid black or grey coat with white fur limited to the paws, belly, chest throat, chin and face. 2. In England, Tuxedo cats are sometimes called Jellicle Cats, because of a fictional tribe of black and white cats in the T.S. Elliott book Old Possum's Book Of Practical Cats, published in 1939. 3. There is a Black and White Bicolor cat called the "cow cat" or "moo cat". It has big black patches over a mostly white body. It loves water and has a playful nature. 4. There is a Cap-and-saddle cat, with black on the ears, back and tail and the rest is white. 5. A mask-and-mantle cat, with black mask covering its eyes and head with a white nose and chin and black to the tail with white sides and legs. 6. Van coloring refers to black on the crown of the head and the tail only. 7. A Tuxedo cat named Socks, lived in the White House from 1993 to 2001. 8. In the musical "Cats" , Mr. Mistoffelees, is a tuxedo cat. 9. Felix the cat, was the first image to be broadcast over the airways. 10. Looney Tunes Star, Sylvester is most known for his famous phrase "thufferin thuccotash." 11. According to Cat Fancy magazine pied, piebald, particolor or magpie were what Tuxedo cats were once called. 12. Did you know all cats are genetically tabbies? The Tuxedo coloring comes about when a cat has a white-spotting gene called "S" and a gene called "B" which creates the color black. 13. And least we forget, the most famous of all, is The Cat In the Hat, by Dr. Seuss.

13 Facts About Tuxies

1. Tuxies are part of the bi-color group of cats.
2. A bi-color cat is considered a tuxedo cat if there is low-to-medium grade white spotting limited to the face, paws, throat and chest of an otherwise black cat.
3. A black and white bi-color cat is also called a jellicle cat in the United Kingdom.
4. Tuxies can be gray, black, or even a color know as "blue."
5. There are many patterns of tuxies, in both long and short fur.
6. Another type of black-and-white bicolor cat is nicknamed "cow cat" or "moo cat. A cow cat doesn't have the solid black "jacket" of the tuxedo cat. Instead, it has big black patches over a mostly white body, often with a black mask over the head.
7. Many tuxedo cats appear to sport goatees, due to the black coloration of their lower jaw and chin; and, black face masks.
8. There are 10 identifiable grades of bicolor in cats, plus several patterns with their own names.
9. Some famous tuxies are Socks, the white house cat; and Felix and Sylvester cartoon cats.
